Pavement Ants are about 1/16 to 1/8 inch long. There body is light brown to black with paler legs and antennae. They feed on almost anything including insects, honeydew, seeds, plant sap and household foods.

Odorous House Ants are about 1/16 to 1/8 inch long. There body is brown to black. Workers emit a disagreeable, rotten, coconut-like odor. Inside these ants nest in wall voids especially around hot water pipes. They prefer sweet but, also eat foods with a high protein content. Traditional treatments do not work with this ant. Carpenter Ants are about 1/8 to 1/2 inch long. Body black, combinations of red and black, or completely red or brown.

Carpenter ants do no eat wood for food but rather hollow out galleries in wood for nesting purposes. They are active February thru November and prefer moist areas and water damaged wood
